Caohejing Hightech Park, Shanghai, China

Invited International Urban Design Competition

The project's brief was to design a new High Tech Park in public transit proximity to the City of Shanghai. The 617 acre masterplanned community includes housing, workplaces, educational institutions, recreational facilities and more. Caohejing High Tech Park spans between an elevated light rail system to the west and a future high-traffic arterial connector to the east. Framing an existing canal along its center, the project was zoned into different functional areas - the more dense, public and civic functions define a central access axis from the west, and culminate in a large public park in the center of the 'city block'. To the east, a residential area defines the development's border along the east canal.
