Aster Eco-Farm and Village

Masterplan Development for a Carbon-Negative Eco Farm with Village Component for 1,000 Inhabitants near Geneva, Ohio, USA

Aster Eco Farm and Village is an innovative pilot project for a smart eco farm and village that combines economic, social, and environmental activities for global citizens. It's future location is just north of the small town of Geneva, Ohio, about 45 minutes east of Cleveland.
Project

Aster Eco Farm and Village embraces clean technologies and a circular economy and is a self-sustaining, resilient village for its resources (electricity, water, and waste), designed for and built with the latest environment-friendly materials using the best technologies available in a biophilic design, to create a lifestyle in harmony with nature. Aster Village is car-free with community transportation. The whole village is connected under one smart system with real-time update. To address and support local forestry and agriculture, Aster Village is surrounded by 20 hectares of carbon forest and 20 hectares of eco-farming (orchards, fruit and vegetable farm) cocooning the 10 hectare village and absorbing its carbon emissions. The village will integrate an eco-farm system with nearby farms leading the farmer’s coop, where heirloom fruits, vine, vegetables, unique fruits and vegetables for the tourism sector for international visitors will be grown. Raising heritage breed small animals for pest and weed control and fertilizer will be an important part of the sustainable concept of the Aster Village concept.

Rural Revival

The village’ sustainable real-estate concept is anchored around the community center where all social and economic activities happen. The center will include co-working spaces, an incubator, a library and bookstore, a community kitchen, village store, community activity center and more. The residential areas, which surround the center with its communal functions, offer three types of housing to purchase; townhouses with 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms, condos with 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms, and residences with a studio, 1 and 2 bedrooms.
