Jörg Rügemer’s involvement in the field of teaching and research is an integral part of his design philosophy. Within the last 15 years, he has taught architectural and urban design studios, virtual design studios, and a variety of sustainable architectural and urban design seminars. Schools included Karlsruhe University of Technology, Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, where he was the chair of Architectural Design and CAD, Florida International University in Miami, where he served as the Director for Digital Design, and the School of Architecture at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, where Jörg focuses on the design of a better built environment.
Analogous to his professional approach, the most important aspect in his academic work is a holistic, interdisciplinary approach that leads his students to a comprehensive result within each architectural project. Past fields of activity included research on the application of dynamic procedures to the development of architectural form; the influence of digital media onto the design process; and the interdisciplinary training of his students with the development of a web-based design studio, the NetzentwurfTM. In recent years, Jörg focuses on a wide range of high-performance architectural and sustainable urban projects within his academic studio setting.
